Produced by Taki Lin (林大鈞), the founding bass player of veteran rock band The Chairman (董事長樂團), "Killed by Rock 'n' Roll" is a film made by and for the members of Taiwanese rock music scene.
The 29th Golden Melody Awards (aka Taiwanese Grammys) were held in Taipei Arena on June 23 honoring the top performers in music over the previous year. Taiwanese singer-songwriter LaLa Hsu (徐佳瑩) and Hong Kong singer Eason Chan (陳奕迅) were named Best Mandarin Female Singer and Best Mandarin Male Singer, and they also won Best Mandarin Album and Album of the Year respectively. The biggest winner was jazz pianist Yuying Hsu, who won three awards with her album "happened, happening".
The Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development of Ministry of Culture (文化部) announced the nomination list of this year's Golden Melody Awards on June 16. Singers aMEI and JJ Lin lead with 6 nominations respectively, while the Outstanding Contribution Award goes to veteran diva Julie Su and bass virtuoso Joy Kuo.
For 2018, the Urban Nomad Opening Freakout will be held on April 14 and 15 at Tiger Mountain. There will also be a warm-up party before the festival, a late-night afterparty on April 14, and more fun events.
