TAICCA Announces Partnership with Midem to Boost Taiwanese Artists and Music-tech Startups

Jul-19-2021

The Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) and Midem have sealed an official partnership with an MOU to boost Taiwan’s music industry and talents, including three major collaborations — Midemlab, Midem Talent Exporter, and Midem Songwriting Camp.

This partnership will assist Taiwanese teams to gain international exposure through competitions and exhibitions and provide matchmaking opportunities with investors, talent agencies, and producers. The Midem Talent Exporter program is currently open for submission from now until July 25th.

“We are very excited about this partnership with Midem,” says TAICCA CEO Ming-Che Lee. “The prosperity of digital platforms has allowed music to transcend the barriers of time and space in terms of international markets. Taiwan’s music industry has a great advantage in diversity and technology to proliferate cross-discipline collaborations of music and tech.”

“The addition of our artists to Midem’s lineup will increase the presence of Taiwan’s music industry in the world. It can help globalize our industry. TAICCA will also continue to join forces with film and TV, publishing, ACG, and immersive content events in France to promote Taiwan’s cultural content comprehensively,” emphasizes Lee.

Midem Director Alexandre Denoit also looks forward to the collaboration, saying that he is “delighted to have a strong and fruitful relationship with TAICCA” and is “sure that this multi-year collaboration will reinforce the presence of Taiwan in the global music stage.”

The TAICCA and Midem partnership includes a three-pronged initiative for music-tech venture capital, international career development, and content co-creation. It forms a mutually beneficial mechanism to be rolled out via TAICCA School, the agency's talent cultivation branch.

In terms of music-tech venture capital, TAICCA School will organize a co-branded workshop and pitching session with Midemlab (previously incubated SoundCloud and Kickstarter), where Taiwan music-tech professionals will be invited to join as jury members. Selected teams in the pitching session will represent Taiwan at next year’s Midem, participate in professional events, such as Music Tech Meetup to exchange the latest trends with industry professionals.

As for international career development, TAICCA School will expand its Music Management Program to include resources of Midem Talent Exporter to provide matchmaking opportunities with Live Nation, United Talent Agency, Paradigm Talent Agency, and other International talent agencies. TAICCA will organize a co-branded workshop and showcase to recommend teams for next year’s Midem and participate in VIP events, such as the Global Brand & Sync Summit.

Regarding co-creation, Midem Songwriting Camp will invite Taiwanese producers and talents to collaborate with international producers, offering matchmaking opportunities with global licensing agencies for co-creation and production possibilities. Midem will also invite Taiwanese teams to participate in Listening Sessions or feature live recordings of Taiwanese artists in Studio Sessions. These opportunities increase international exposure to local artists.

Since 1967, Midem has been a leading international event of music and technology professionals for business, networking, competition, and showcase. In 2020, Midem leverages its accumulated database to launch Midem Digital Edition gaining more than 13,000 registered members from more than 151 countries, continuing its market momentum despite the pandemic. TAICCA will also be participating in said platform to promote Taiwan’s music industry.

The 2021 Midem will run from November 16th to 19th online, TAICCA and Midem will also continue to carry out various collaborations and start joint promotions in July to strengthen international exposure of the Taiwanese teams. The deadline of the 2021 Midem Talent Exporter will be July 25th, for more information please check here.
