Lao Wang is a Chinese internet slang term that humorously refers to the lover who lives next door, embodying a satirical and observant perspective on the world. Taiwanese indie folk-rock band Your Woman Sleep with Others incorporates this humor and irony into their music, delivering songs that capture the colorful and bizarre aspects of their generation. With a distinct hoarse voice, resonating cello, and catchy melodies, they create music that tells stories and reflects the joys and sorrows of life. Their music has gained popularity locally and internationally, captivating audiences with its witty and introspective approach.
The band was formed in Taipei in 2015. They have succeeded in various campus folk song competitions and gained recognition for their original compositions. In 2017, they released their debut EP, At Fifteen, I Aspired to Learn, which has garnered over 20 million views on YouTube. Their first album, I Examine Myself Three Times a Day, released in 2019, led to sold-out performances in both Taipei and Taichung and sold-out concerts in Beijing. They have toured extensively throughout China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia, playing at acclaimed festivals including Clockenflap 2023.
