Shallow Levée

Formed in 2016 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Shallow Levée is an alternative rock band consisting of Yi-Ling (vocal/guitar), Sam (drum), Patrick (bass), and Hong Cha (guitar). Songs and lyrics were primarily written by the core member Yi-Ling then arranged by other members, her bilingual vocal lines switching in between Mandarin and Taiwanese, with lyrics reflecting their daily life in Kaohsiung poetically, the band had captured listeners among the Asian countries with their distinctive gentle soundscape.

Shallow Levée first came to the fore in Taiwan when the single Excavator taken from their debut EP Demo.1 released, which later on was shortlisted for Best Rock Song in the 2016 Golden Indie Music Awards. Upon the groundbreaking second EP Soup&Ocean was released in 2017, the band received more recognitions from critics and fans, leading them to be invited to perform in multiple international festivals such as Megaport Festival in Taiwan and Greenplugged Seoul in Korea.

In 2020, with Shallow Levée’s debut full-length album The Village released in June, which then brought them their second Golden Indie Music Awards nomination for Best Rock Album in the same year. Their sophomore album Endless Playlist released in December 2021, has also received numerous praise. They completed their second national album tour in 2022, attracting more than 2500 fans which is another major milestone.
